So I was reading through this article and it is very high level and pretty much meaningless. People are not driven by “goals”. They are driven by 2 things.
Emotions and experiences.
Emotions dictate how we react to events in our lives. The reactions create experiences. So if someone beats on it as a child. There are 2 maybe more reactions. The child fights back or assumes an opinion of one’s themself that is weak and not appreciated. That reaction is driven by emotions. But later in life, that experience will shape decisions moving forward. If they are the fighter, they will seek out ways to prove people wrong about the notion that they may be weak. If they are weak willed, then they will end up in relationships where the other person is a controlling individual.
So this article saying that people are driven by goals, is so high level that it becomes meaningless. And if you are studying psychology, you want a deeper understanding of human behavior than just, people pursue goals.
